GHOSTWRITING FAQ
What is ghostwriting and who is a ghostwriter?

Ghostwriting is when books or content are confidentially written for clients by professional writers whose real identities are never disclosed. A ghostwriter is the professional writer appointed by you to write on your behalf. This writer is essentially your silent partner, the hidden muse behind your manuscript, who remains in the background and is never publicly acknowledged.

I am a long-form ghostwriter, specializing in nonfiction books focusing on all aspects of sustainability, homesteading, organic gardening, nature, wildlife, environmental issues, climate change, and related subjects. However, I have also written books on other topics and can do the same for you, as long as sufficient information and reference material is provided. If required, I can produce your book outline for you, together with the accompanying research. I have written stand-alone books, as well as book series on different aspects of a topic. I have also produced book outlines and blurbs.
For more details, see my Services page.

Is ghostwriting legal?

Yes, it is completely legal. Not everyone chooses to write for others without any acknowledgement but I absolutely love writing and am always keen for opportunities to employ my craft. I am an accomplished wordsmith.
Why hire a ghostwriter?

There are numerous people who wish to write books and their reasons are probably as diverse as they are. As a potential author, you may have knowledge or experience you wish to share, a desire to make a difference to people's lives or the world, or a story you would like to tell. Perhaps you wish to produce and sell books to augment your income. However, there's a snag. You might have a demanding full-time job, run a business, travel extensively, or have family and other commitments that make extensive inroads into your time. Finding time to write is impossible but you're becoming preoccupied with a book idea that is clamoring to be written. This is where I come in. As a professional, experienced ghostwriter, I can turn your ideas into a reputable, first-rate book that will resonate with your readers and receive favorable reader reviews.
While most of my clients fall into the above category, I have also worked with people who wish to become authors but are uncertain about writing their own books. Others have a home language other than English, so they prefer to engage an experienced, competent writer. Still others may have started out developing a series of books and may be unable to continue producing and writing additional manuscripts for various reasons. Many such people have commissioned me to help them reach their goals and fulfil or attain their dreams of becoming published authors.

Will AI be used to write your book?

No. I do not make use of AI to write books for my clients. You can be assured that all the work I produce for you is 100% authentic and original. I will personally ensure that your book is plagiarism free, contains no copyrighted content, and is uniquely created for you to your brief and requirements.

Do ghostwriters have any claim on the books written on behalf of their clients?

No. All ghostwriters, including me, literally sign away their rights to any royalties, commission, copyrights, or any other intellectual property rights to the books they create and are not entitled to claim these from their clients, book publishers, or self-publishing book platforms, online or offline stores, exhibitions, or anywhere else that their clients' books may be marketed and/or sold. The book is published under your name as the client (or your pen name). My name will not appear anywhere on the book or its cover or on any of your marketing material. Should you wish to acknowledge me in a foreword or acknowledgements page, you are welcome to do so but this entirely at your discretion and will not affect my decision to write your book.

Neither you as the client nor I as the ghostwriter ever disclose that your book has been ghostwritten. You will usually sign a non-disclosure agreement with me, confirming these terms. I am also not allowed to publish excerpts from your book or market it in any way, unless you give me express permission to do so.

How long will it take you to write my book?

I am an efficient writer and speed typist. It takes me approximately 20 - 25 days to write a 30,000 word book (approximately 120 pages), for example. This is subject to the proviso that you equip me with a detailed, comprehensive, and well-crafted outline that includes all relevant online references to which I can refer. Should you require me to write the outline for you, including sourcing the applicable reference material, then this will take about 10 - 14 days more. Please Note: These timelines are a general guideline only and may be adjusted should unforeseen circumstances arise, if additional research is required, or the outline you provide me with is insufficient for me to produce a quality book for you.

What is the ghostwriting process?

Before we start, I will send you a questionnaire, so I can find out more about you, your book, and your expectations. After this, we will discuss your requirements in more detail in person, via Whatsapp, Zoom or email. I will provide an overview for you of how I work and what you can expect. Please note that I am based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and my time zone is GMT+2 or Central Africa Time (CAT), so we may need to allow for time differences when scheduling meetings. I have, however, worked with numerous international clients across several time zones and do not anticipate any difficulties.

If we decide we are a good fit, I will need to see your book outline if you have one. I work very closely with my clients and provide continuous input and evaluation to ensure that your book is professionally written. I want you to be 100% happy with it once we are finished.

I do not do editing beyond self-editing as I am working and the changes that you make to the content during the revision stages. However, I can recommend professional book editors to you.
